Current Trends in Fashion

Fashion is a fickle business. Items considered stylish a few months ago can be completely forgotten, while older styles become modern classics. It is difficult to stay on top of what is current in the marketplace, and tracking these fashion trends takes the full effort of many dedicated stylists. Fortunately for us, the basics of this spring are rather straight forward.

Spring 2007

The fashion trends of 2007 are fun, flirty and feminine. Flowing dresses and short shorts make warmer days even hotter while bold accessories brighten up any look. Denim is still definitely in style, but gets a new look for spring, and stilettos are taking a back seat – at least for a little while.

Figure Flattering Styles

Fortunately for those who follow fashion trends, but might not always fit into the fashion itself, this spring offers many figure flattering silhouettes. Wide leg jeans are perfect for almost any shape, and with the skinny jeans of the last few seasons moving out, more women are able to feel stylish and comfortable at the same time.
Rather than having jackets and tops bubble out and cinch at the waist, the new style is a wider, triangular shape. These tunics, shirts and jackets flow along the body and offer a bit of clever concealment for problem areas as well as looking very fashionable. With the comfort of these loose fitting tops and dresses, its a wonder women stuck to clingy fabrics for so long.

Glitter and Glam

The red carpets were full of glitter and glam this year. Metallic dresses were everywhere, and no fashion trends were hotter than the metallic mini. Short dresses in metallic fabrics or with the right kind of shimmer are great for an evening out or a stylish date.
If the mini is too mini, it can always be paired with tights that have been popular for a few seasons now and preserve a bit more modesty. This look is also great for wearing a short skirt or dress during the daytime. If a dress is just too much for you, you can also try wearing the right pair of shorts out for an evening on the town.

The Ultimate Accessories

Accessories are big this season as they have been for awhile. The big bulky bags are gone, but jewelry has taken up the slack. Mini bags are hip now and the latest jewelry fashion trends tell us that bigger is better. Big plastic bangle bracelets are fun and exude fashionable youth. Large cocktail rings make the fingers flashy enough to draw some attention. Even shoes are undergoing a transformation. While heels are still essential for minis and even shorts, oxford shoes are making a startling come back.
There is no doubt that following fashion trends is fun, and trying out the latest wardrobe must-haves is part of what makes shopping and dressing up such a thrill. As exciting as the clothes may be, its important to remember the woman makes the clothes, not the other way around. So be confident and proud and even the most basic wardrobe pieces will always exude your personal style.
